Volunteers who support Luna and the children, youth and families we serve make vital contributions to our mission and community.
Volunteer
We believe in the power of community. We also rely on it. Our volunteers help strengthen our ties to the communities we call home.
From volunteering at events to directly working with children, youth, and their families, we have a range of volunteer opportunities. Take a look at our current roles and make sure to check back regularly for new opportunities!
Volunteer Opportunities
Luna conducts volunteer intakes once or twice a year based on need and space in the volunteer program. Intakes for our Victim Services positions usually take place in Fall (August/September) and Spring (April/May) while we recruit specifically for Database and Welcome Volunteers as needed. If you are interested in a Victim Services role, please fill out an application for the role you are interested in so that we have your application on file during our next intake. Due to the high volume of applications, we will only contact successful applicants during our intake. All volunteer positions are in-person roles and must live in Calgary. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
Due to the complexity and specialized nature of our work, candidates are selected for interviews based on a combination of their educational, professional, volunteer, and personal experience.
For Victim Services roles (Family Support Advocates, Court Support Advocates, and Court Administration Advocates) - volunteers must have a background in social work, related field - psychology, sociology, etc., or previous experience in a Victim Services role - with a combination of previous experience to be considered for the position.
Welcome Volunteers must have experience working directly with children and youth, be interested in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Child Space, and have a passion for serving children, youth, and families dealing with the impacts of abuse and neglect.
