Thank you for your interest in receiving a workshop from Luna. Through educating yourself, you are doing your part to protect children from harm and create a community that ensures that every child and youth can grow up in a community that’s safe and nurturing. To best meet your needs, we have a few options for you to consider:  

Recognizing, Reporting and Responding to Suspected Child Abuse (1 hour)  

Duration: 1 hour  

Format: Lecture, virtual  

Description: This workshop aims to educate participants about the role of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, effective strategies for preventing child abuse, and the essential steps to recognize, report and respond to suspected abuse.  

Learning Objectives:  

  • Increased understanding of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre  

  • Increased awareness of the types of child abuse and how to recognize if a child is being abused  

  • Increased clarity on when to report suspected child abuse  

  • Increased confidence in responding to disclosures of abuse  


Recognizing, Reporting and Responding to Suspected Child Abuse (3 hours)  

Duration: 3 hours (with a 15-minute break)  

Format: Interactive workshop, in person  

Description: This engaging 3-hour workshop will deepen your understanding of recognizing and responding to indicators of abuse. This interactive session emphasizes effective strategies for handling disclosures of abuse, while ensuring both the physical and emotional safety of the child or youth. Participants will also learn how to support themselves in these challenging situations, fostering a secure and compassionate environment for all involved.

  • Increased understanding of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre  

  • Increased ability to recognize the indicators of abuse  

  • Increased ability to respond to abuse disclosures  

  • Increased knowledge of techniques to manage their own emotional well-being during and after receiving disclosures of abuse.
