National Indigenous History Month
This year marks the 25th anniversary of National Indigenous History Month in Canada. Every June, Canadians have the opportunity to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across the country. Here at Luna, we continue to nurture, build and learn about how to walk with our Indigenous neighbours, and strive to understand how we can become true allies. National Indigenous History Month is a chance for us to recognize and honour the past and its impact, recommit to reconciliation, and continue building healthy, respectful relationships, all while celebrating and honouring Indigenous culture and history.

National Indigenous History Month Opening Ceremony - Mini Pow Wow
Celebrate the launch of National Indigenous History Month with a mini Pow Wow. Activities will include a Grand Entry, Intertribal dances, a round dance, and Traditional Indigenous games and food.

Understanding Indigenous Cultural Gatherings and Social Dances
Have you ever wondered what Pow Wows and Round Dances are and why Indigenous people do these? Join Traditional Knowledge Keeper Hal Eagletail, a well-known Master of Ceremonies of social dances, as he shares his knowledge about Pow Wows and Round Dances, and the importance for Indigenous people to gather for these cultural practices.

Opening Ceremonies for Aboriginal Awareness Week
This annual event, which is free to attend and offers a free BBQ lunch, has been hosted for over 20+ years and supports the launch of the week of celebration and honouring of the rich, diverse culture of our Indigenous communities.

Walk for Reconciliation 2022
Join in the Walk for Reconciliation, an opportunity to reflect on the difficult history and atrocities of residential schools in Canada, the legacies of survivors, and how we can all move forward together to overcome adversity.

AFCC Round Dance Honouring Indigenous Day
A fun afternoon filled with a BBQ, activities, and round dance.

University of Calgary Campfire Chats: Buffalo Treaty
The University of Calgary will present its seventh annual Campfire Chats, which is an online event created to celebrate Indigenous culture and learn more about the Buffalo Treaty.

National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration
Circle Connections for Reconciliation is hosting a celebration, including an Elder's blessings and prayers, land acknowledgement, acknowledgement from dignitaries as well as live music and dance performances from various Métis and First Nations groups.
