Collaboration in Action: How Luna’s Multi-Disciplinary Team Works Together to Support Children & Families
At Luna, supporting children and youth impacted by abuse is never a one-person job—it’s a team effort. 75% of child abuse cases at Luna involve two or more members of our Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), ensuring that every file is approached with expertise, care, and a holistic perspective.
Our Morning Triage meetings, held four times a week, are a cornerstone of this collaborative approach. These meetings bring together professionals from Calgary Police Service, RCMP, Alberta Health Services, Victim Services, and Children & Family Services to review new case files and determine the best path forward for each child and family.
By working together, these agencies ensure that:
✔️ Children only have to share their experiences of abuse once, reducing re-traumatization.
✔️ Each case is seen through multiple lenses, ensuring no critical details are overlooked.
✔️ Investigations, medical care, victim support, and child protection services are coordinated efficiently.
This collaborative model allows Luna to streamline processes, minimize delays, and provide the most effective interventions possible—so that children, youth, and families receive the care and support they need, when they need it most.
