Donor Profile: Allan Hargreaves
Allan Hargreaves is a passionate advocate for child abuse prevention and a long-standing supporter of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre. With a distinguished career in the Calgary Police Service (CPS), Allan’s dedication to protecting vulnerable children spans decades. His experience serving as Staff Sergeant with Major Crimes/Sex Crimes and in the Child Abuse Unit has given him deep insight into the importance of a coordinated response to child abuse.
Allan’s commitment to child advocacy began early in his policing career, where he co-founded, with the support of at the time Alberta Family Social Services and the forward-thinking executive team at CPS, the Child at Risk Response Team (CARRT). He recognized that while police are exceptional in responding to crises, there was a critical need for action to prevent those crises from occurring in the first place. This vision continues to drive his support of Luna’s work, which focuses on early intervention and a holistic approach to child abuse response and healing.
After his retirement from CPS in 2005, Allan’s passion for protecting children did not wane. Now overseeing corporate security for Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNRL). He continues to champion the mission of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre through his work at Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNRL). Allan has been instrumental in securing multi-year support.
